I'm working on a ticker tape quilt for a friend's baby. It's my first one, and I'm super excited about how it's turning out.

For me, it's not about the process... sometimes I find that tedious and stressful. But when I finish something and can look at it and pet it and admire it, I feel pretty good. Is that weird? I know a lot of crafters are all about the process.

However, I did take a couple of pictures of Emma on Saturday before the battery died. I'm an alum of the University of Florida, so we are huge Gator fans at our house! (Hubby knows there's no choice in the matter, plus I root for the Red Sox to support him.)

We spent four days in the hospital following my c-section. Baby Emma was breech from 36 weeks on, and didn't turn back to a head down position.

And just in the nick of time, too. I've always been a procrastinator. :) 

Really, the room has been ready for a while, just chaotic and disorganized. It's a small space and Baby has so much stuff to pack in there! We started in March by painting and ordering the furniture. I found a great pattern from Aesthetic Nest, called the Picot and Lace Baby Cloche. Overall the pattern was really easy to follow and quick to crochet.

Baby gets the hiccups between three and five times every day... sometimes her hiccups are so strong that you can see my belly jumping around!

Here she is today... we're looking at Baby's face... she had her back to the ultrasound tech so we mostly saw her spine and ribs. No good profile photos, unfortunately.

I really don't know if all these baby things will be necessary, but they are so stinkin' adorable that I can't help myself! Plus, I know that I won't have a whole lot of time or inclination to be crafty after Baby's born, so I should do it now while I can, especially since school's out.

I really, REALLY love this blanket! 

Don't get me wrong. It was a pain in the rear to count and recount all the hexagons, and to run out of yarn (twice) and it was a giant pain to weave in all the ends, but the end result is worth every minute.

I can't remember where the inspiration for them came from, it was a magazine that's hiding somewhere in my house. 

I used a jelly roll from JoAnn for the prints and the binding, and matching fat quarters for the backings and napkins.

I've sort of developed a bit of a butterfly theme in her room, but don't tell my hubby because he'll think that's WAY too girly. :) At any rate, I decided a butterfly wreath would be very sweet on her wall.

We had a sweet little potholder swap. All the potholders were hung on the curtains to be admired... mine is the hexagon one. Shocking, I know.
On Sunday after breakfast we drew names and numbers, and I got to come home with this adorable potholder, made by Melinda! It hangs in my kitchen in a place of honor, and I love the cheery colors!

I spent this past weekend at another fabulous quilting retreat at the Inn at City Park, hosted by the wonderful Tara (she puts in so much time and effort to make things awesome!). Mia and Nancy finished theirs a long time ago, but I got stuck. Piecing didn't take that long, but I ended up hating the original backing fabric I chose.


When the right fabric came along in the form of a vintage sheet from a thrift store (close up below), I was scared to quilt it because I loved the quilt top so much!

Snow's melted, but the whipping wind makes it cold. And difficult to walk outside. 

See those trees on the other side of the street? I swear at least ten times a year that those trees are going to blow over. But they never do.

Last Friday Hubby and I went in for our second trimester ultrasound, which proved very uncomfortable as I needed a full blader and the technician was pushing down on my abdomen pretty hard. Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've lost 4 pounds since December. Also weird, but true. Especially since my belly has definitely expanded.

Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found the one I modeled it after! Whoops. I'll keep looking for it. 

This was my first time using my free motion presser foot in a meandering pattern. There's only a couple mistakes that you can't really see. Overall, I'm very pleased!
