me? procrastinate? nah...

Well... okay, I do procrastinate. A lot. So much so that I decided yesterday afternoon to make a present for a birthday party today. A party I've known about for, oh, three weeks. A challenge to finish something on time, for sure.

At any rate, this was a combined birthday party for two kiddos, a brother and sister. Brother just turned four and Sister turned two three days later. Life is busy at their house!

I made another edition of the fabric dollhouse, this time turning it into a barn.

I added an owl on the roof of one side and some trees on the other. I love me some hot glue!

I think I like it better than the first one because I played around with the inside this time. There's a watering hole, some hay, and a flower garden. The farmer and his piggy look pretty happy!

I was pretty happy, too. :) I had to leave the birthday party before presents were opened but I hope the birthday boy and girl like it!

I finished off the gift with a homemade birthday card and I made a simple drawstring bag to put it in.

  1. So cute! I think I like the barn even better, but you know, I'm a frustrated farmer.

So, I wanted to ask you and Nancy...I was looking forward to free-motion quilting on my machine (my first attempt, ever!) but then I had this idea for the finishing (instead of binding the edges) and from everything I can find, you have to quilt before you finish the edges. It's just that this won't work with my idea! So I'm thinking of doing this one with just...tying it. Oh gosh, I can't believe I said it! Would that be so bad? Is it ruining the quilt along? I need advice!!!

  2. No way you made that in one sitting. It took me for-eh-ver to do my dollhouse! Your barn looks great - I am seriously impressed!
I have been in a class for the last two weeks, but I have gotten some stuff done, just haven't been able to blog about it...
Mia, that would not ruin anything - you make your quilt the way you want to!!
    :D

  4. This came out so cute. I have never seen this tutorial before. This looks like a great gift idea. I wonder if you could add a real window to it.
